African print fashion shoot for Diana Fashions

The past Week was hectic for me, had loads of work to tackle .. Being that time of the month when Bills gang up against me I couldn’t turn down any of the jobs that came my way. Today`s blog post features Fashion designs by Diana Kimani an Upcoming designer.

Diana is aspiring to be a fashion designer with interest in african prints this is her first attempt at Fashion design and in my view she started out strongly.. I think it is more of a hobby for her as she is currently pursuing Eco-tourism and Hotel Management at Maseno University. She found me through google, I think. We had to re-shoot after a mishap with the first shoot we did (refer to the previous post). This is my second shoot with her, the first one was a portrait shoot we did sometime last year.

She came with her cousin, who has never done modeling or any serious photography. Modeling is perceived as an easy thing until one tries it and realize it is not as easy as professional models make it look. Some of the photos in here can`t be defined as Fashion in the true sense of the word but had to include them anyway.

Zakah and Cannibal publicity shoot

Zakah of Wenyeji and Cannibal dropped by the studio for a quick shoot together with a talented producer Reez. I started with both artists together and then I shot them Individually before Reez joined in the shoot for the final group shot.
The shoot went on fine and we took lots of amazing images. from wide angle to dramatic lighting. Then the worst happened as I was transferring the images the electrify started playing pata potea .. am not sure but I`m guessing this what corrupted the memory card and I Lost all the images save for this six below which had already been transferred.

I tried all possible means to recover the data to no avail… On the same card I also had another 5 hour Fashion shoot with Diana (a fashion designer) and regular follower of this blog, calling her with the bad news wasn’t easy …as of this posting she hasn’t fully recovered from the shock ..We`ll be re-shooting today though.

I count my Losses as experience to learn from, this has never happed to me again and I have put on measures to ensure it never happens again

Just incase you haven’t heard of them here are some of their hits.

Dandora L.O.V.E – Zakah na Kah

Mizani – wenyeji

Kichwa Kibov – cannibal

My reason Habida Ft. Cannibal

Ann Glamour Photoshoot

Ann-Glamour Photoshoot

Glamour Photoshoots in kenya are catching up. Back in the days photoshoot were not as Glamouruos. They were Either a Lady squating and holding a flower in in front of a bougainvillea fence or posing in a studio with a curtain background . last week I got a chance to shoot a beautiful lady named Ann, She came to the studio for a portrait shoot after seeing some of my work and was kind enough to allow me to blog it. During the shoot I decided to get a bit adventurous with light and loved how the images turned out

I helped her out with poses and as the shoot progressed she was able to make good poses herself. We ended up shooting past the time we had set for the shoot. which happes alot by the way. Sometimes the shoots become intresting that one loosed focus of time,
… I`ll be getting even more adventurous in my upcoming shoots so keep it locked.

Bless Me Lord DVD cover shoot.

Today`s post is a little different. You get to see the making of a DVD cover that I did for Mwana Mpuku a Zambian gospel artist living in kenya. He found me through google. This was actually a redesign as the work had been given to another designer, but the video producer felt it was not satisfactory.

It took about 30 min or less to come up with the concept and shoot. It helps when you already have an idea of how you want the cover to look. In this case I wanted to illustrate asking for blessing (on the front cover) and receiving the blessing (on the back cover).

Several days later the client called me up to inform me that the producer liked it.
